- Course description
- The world's tropical rainforests and their primates are disappearing at an alarming rate. To initiate effective conservation plans, the next generation of scientists must have a grounding in several disciplines to face the complex challenges of irreversible habitat and species loss. This course is the only postgraduate course internationally that links the study of primates with conservation biology in all its aspects. In 2008 the course was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Excellence in Higher Education. Students learn the principles of primate biodiversity and biogeography, conservation genetics, human-wildlife conflict, captive management and environmental education, as well as research methods.
